Wow, just checking this entry (today, October 9th 2011) Has it been that long already? Anyway, disregard old newsflash entries and just go with the general info. I am, from time to time, entering Saatchi Showdown, so if you just go to my Saatchi Page
HERE you get the scoop. My
blog on Posterous keeps you updated as well about what's happening in my part of the world. This is not all about me, but much of it about my network of Visionary Artists.
My drawing CTULHU MONUMENTS was entered into the previous Saatchi Gallery Showdown.
It went as far as the Final Round of 128 (out of nearly 6000 entries) - unfortunately, it stalled in that round.
Thanks everyone that voted!
Undeterred, I entered a different drawing into Showdown Paris, which started March 4th - Ouroboros Perpetual Motion Machine
Preliminary Round Voting: March 4, 2011, 10:00 am - March 20, 2011, 9:59 am
Final Rounds Voting: March 20, 2011, 10:00 am - March 25, 2011, 9:59 am
Update: Didn't quite make it - so I try again (see top)
If not a Saachi Member yet, sign up/in at Saachi or else sign in with your facebook account and visit my profile (the link to any showdowns I am currently in is under my Profile Id):

News flash regarding the VISIONARY ART GALLERY (more about that below): on February 10th 2011, our Gallery experienced a dramatic jump in Visitors! While we were proud to have on average over 1000 visitors a day, on that day, it spiked to 14.070 Visitors! After some checking with my stats I found that most of these visits originated via one entry in a Polish social network that one of my Polish Artists told me is very popular with young people!

Recycled parts of my previous Journal Entries:
- still in need of an overhaul, the title of the previous Journal Entry was deceiving, since it annonced the VA Gallery opening in September (2009, that is). Well, we've been open since August 2009 now and have experienced some fantastic growth. Membership in our Private Network stands at over 250, and exhibiting in the Pulic Gallery are over 200 Artists. Some time ago, I put a total facelift on the gallery, rewriting the entire CSS and giving it a cleaner, more sophisticated look. I also went Pro on the host, Weebly, which added some more bells and whistles (got music now) and also gave me additional websites (10 in total) so the plan is to eventually spin off the Visionary Art Emporium (presently a feature in the Gallery, housing Member Artist Stores) as well as the Visionary Art Hall of Fame into stand-alone affiliated websites. The sites exist already, but are parked, awaiting content moved and expanded. All this is going to happen soon.
With many of the Artists being deviants, I also expect to rekindle my involvement in this community. After all, this is where it kind of started, since at the time I began this with the Private Network, I simply wanted to demonstrate to my friends in the IIAA that there were better ways to skin a cat. The demonstration project turned into a growing network that has attained a very high ranking on Google (the public Gallery, that is), as well as a steadily increasing stream of visitors to our on-line Gallery.
I will again travel to Vienna this Summer, this time I'll be staying for a whole year! I plan on re-charging my batteries for what appears to be some exciting times ahead for "Our" Art!
Now back to the "old" Journal:
I dream of catching up with all my work and actually have more time to spend on more important things in live. Things that do not involve being on-line writing Journal Entries ......... alas, I have to, otherwise everyone gets mad at me...... but seriously folks, I am busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. Working like a dog on publicising my artist friends from the private Visionary Art Network in a public VISIONARY ART GALLERY, officially opened on September 1st 2009. Have a look here.

QUOTESEveryone is always quoting, so here ar a couple of my own:
THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX is a platitude most often mouthed by those least capable of it. What is worse, they don't seem to realize their box is sitting right in the middle of the trash bin!

I never made notes. I have great pride in my razor-sharp memory. Particularly when quoting people that agree with me!

I've been asked many times whether I take drugs. Quoting Dali's: "I am the drug" is a tired old chestnut everyone seems to quote. For me, it's more like: "This is the way I perceive the world. In order to see it the way you do, I would have to take drugs!"
you may quote me on that!

In January 2009 I started a Private (by Invitation only) Network on the Ning Platform:
VISIONARY ARTI initially invited a few close friends to participate in order to test out the features.
To learn what it is all about, please click on the featured painting Parthenogenesis by Tassos Kouris:

I am proud to say that our tribe members are some of the best Visionary Artists in the Universe. - Update: see top of Journal entry: I had been working on setting up a publicly accessible gallery for our members, due to open officially on September 1st.
OK - ITS BEEN OPEN NOW FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND HAS GROWN EXPONENTIALLY! Check it out, banner-link is on top of the Journal!

THE VIENNA SCHOOL OF FANTASTIC REALISM:
A "SIXTH" MEMBER OF THE GROUP? While conducting further research for my essay THE VIENNA SCHOOL OF FANTASTIC REALISM I was fortunate to discover additional resources: Kurt Regschek was originally closely associated with the group in Vienna, but left in 1965 to pursue his own way, just before internationally important exhibitions of the other 5 members took place. Kurt Regschek could be considered the Sixth Member of the Group. I've known and treasured the few works that I had seen up to now for many years, but was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of images and detailed information found through the links below.
A very personable and humble man, while being interviewed for his biography, he said:
"I know, a biography must be - however I don't like it when artists make themselves the work of art".
